Dear lord! I’ve been blogging on my White Witch website for almost over a year now and I’ve never explained what a White Witch is! Well even more so, what a Witch means to me even, and why I claim this title!
To be fair though I don’t think I even knew what it meant to me until someone on my last work flight from Winnipeg to Punta Cana asked me what it is to be a “Witch.” I then had to explain to them what it was, and finally explained myself without questioning what being a Witch is. Well to me anyway! As it can mean different things to different people. Now I’ll also be explaining what being a “White Witch” is in and why I chose to go with it. As it was also brought to my attention that claiming to be a White Witch may make others feel excluded from partaking in the light work that I facilitate. So in hopes to better explain why I went with “White”, as well. This is to not exclude, specifically in this case, based off of color allowing for a better understanding as to the meaning. It is, and never will be a conscious desicion of mine to exclude anyone ever based off of race, gender, class, or sexual orientation. Cause friends that ain’t my jam at all and I love and appreciated every single human being I come across no matter the circumstances. Who am I to judge, without first judging myself right!
Now with all that being said! What’s a Witch? A witch to me is a woman in her power at any stage of her life that allows and embodies magic, healing, and is guided by her intuition. A woman who is strong in herself. Guided by her intuition, dance’s to the own beat of her drum. Has gone through hell and back, looked at her demons right in the eyes and told them fuck you. A woman who understands how to embody The Maiden (innocents, Beginnings), The Mother (Creation energy, Birthing), and The Crone (Inner Wisdom, Endings). Who follows the natural rhythm of mother earth, the ebb and flow of life, and the cycle of the moon and seasons. She is a teacher of the old ways, and points out to others when they have stepped off there path and how to, by their own means, get back on it with nothing but a nudge of guidance or insight. She is a woman who manifest, makes magic, communes with the spirits, and respects that there are forces beyond her or anyone’s control. She is a woman that came from the ones who they weren’t able to burn. The ones who passed on there knowledge in secret. The ones that are sick of the hiding, and are taking back their power, and are no longer afraid of stepping out into the light from the caves, from fear of persecution. I am from a long line of witches that they couldn’t burn. Even as I write this i’m channeling all of this powerful energy from my ancestors before me . This is what being a Witch means to me, as it is all of this and much more.
Now on to the “White” bit! This luckily is a little lighter and simpler to explain though has two parts. Part one was too make clear that I am a witch who practices with light or “white” magic. Unlike those witches who work with “Black Magic”. Now nothing wrong with those who work with the dark arts, but it is a world that I don’t work with and have no interest in as it is not my calling. White magic is healing, love and of course light work. Which is the second part, to being White. Because White = Light! A Light worker is someone who is a healer, a sensitive souls, a natural helper, and are beings with a deep calling to aid not only individuals in raising there vibration but that of the planets as a whole. And that’s it! This is the why and the meaning behind my title as The White Witch. I hope this brings clarity and knowledge as to what makes me a White Witch. I will be changing my Instagram account from @thewhite.witch to @healingwithemmah. Allowing for people who may not know me, question what a witch is, a broader crowd and skeptics to not feel like they have to know a secret witches coven code to understand the beauty of what I do. Opening up to explore the magic and healing work I bring into the world!
For I am The White Witch.
With love n’ light,
Emma
